Spitfire Comedy from Chicago, Illinois, to Reunite March 6 in Santa Monica!

On March 6, 2009, some of Chicago's most hilarious stand-up comics will perform together again in a very special reunion show in sunny Santa Monica!

Spitfire Comedy is a collective of female stand-up comedians who joined forces the summer of 2006 in Chicago. Since then, three of the co-founders moved to Los Angeles, and three moved to New York City to pursue their comedy dreams. But for one night only this March, they will perform together again.

This show, at Santa Monica’s Westside Eclectic, will feature NYC’s Kara Buller, Joselyn Hughes (currently nominated for Emerging Comic in the ECNY Awards), L.A.’s Hannah Gansen, Becky Garcia, and Renee Gauthier (Victoria Beckham: Coming to America), and Chicago’s Allison Leber and Hattie Snider, with special guest host Tammy Jo Dearen.

The first SpitFire showcase at the Apollo Theater studio was a major, major SUCCESS! Thanks again and again to host Greg Mills and special guests Team Submarine for helping us bring down the sold-out house!

The October 3 showcase will feature Fay Canale, Allison Leber, Hattie Snider, special guest Cameron Esposito, and host Bill Cruz, with more special guests to be announced!

We'd also like to plug the Sunday night showcase Your Sunday Best, taking place tonight in their brand new home, Schubas, a very famous and fancy indie rock club here in Chicago. Hello all! After a brief hiatus this summer, Spitfire is BACK! First, VERY belated congratulations are in order for our girl Renee Gauthier, who was recently on the NBC special, "Coming to America", starring Victoria Beckham. Renee was Victoria's L.A. assistant for her transition from London to America. You can watch the full episode on NBC.com. The girls of SpitFire are working it lately! First, big shouts to Becky Garcia, who gave it up last night at the Chicago Comedy Awards Lincoln Lodge show. Congrats, Becky!!!

Things in the world of SpitFire have been decidedly CRAZED lately! After throwing yet another wildly successful show at T's Bar last month (this time to benefit ANAD), the girls are buckling down on their plans for 2007. We will definitely keep you up-to-date as plans come to fruition!

In the meantime, Fay Canale is running the now-weekly showcase and open mic at Sheffields' (every Thursday), Allison Leber and Becky Garcia are producing and featuring as cast members of the Lincoln Lodge, Joselyn Hughes has made another hilarious video (see below!), and there is a "Chicago Revival" in NYC tonight at Mo's, in a show produced by our friends Chicks and Giggles. Joselyn, Kara Buller, Lauren Bishop, and Brooke Van Poppelen all on one bill! Tight! Also, check out the Bastion to read a super fun interview with Renee Gauthier, our sister in L.A.

And finally, tonight our girl Fay Canale is opening for MORGAN MURPHY at the monthly People Under the Stares show, produced by Drag City Records and Empty Bottle. Congratulations Fay!!!

So, we've got Jossie settling in nicely in NYC, Brooke back in the Apple after an extended visit home to the Midwest, Kara gathering her things to join them on the East Coast, and Renee wrapping (rapping!?) in anticipation for the glittery lights of L.A. If that wasn't enough, our girls still within the perimeters of Chicago are working their booties off, too. Allison Leber has been heading the new venture, Comics4Change, a collective dedicated to causing social change with their talents and energy. Tomorrow, September 28, the second installment of Comics4Change will see the revolving cast of characters throwing a benefit show for New Orleans' Common Ground Collective, at the Mix, 2843 N. Halsted, at 9 p.m. Open bar starts at 8 p.m., so get there early for the imbibification and stay for the laughter.

Becky Garcia is gearing up for another season of the Lincoln Lodge (back from summer hiatus October 5), where she is a cast member. Expect more of the talent and hilarity you've come to expect this summer from Becky's work this fall and winter! We're especially excited to see her reprise her "Man on the Street" character, assaulting strangers on Lincoln Ave. for yet another season!

Hannah Gansen will be coming up on her eighth episode of A Demon Who Never Appeared! at the Playground Theater this Saturday, September 30. This monthly midnight showcase is never short of surprises and absurdity, and we are very much looking forward to a new song or two by the always lovely Maestro Hannah.

We'd also like to congratulate Fay Canale for starting a new great room for Chicago comedy at Sheffield's, at Belmont and Sheffield. Right now it's the last Thursday of the month, but I *think* SpitFire *might* be making it a bit more regular than that? Maybe! Stay tuned!

What a GREAT night last night at Chicago Underground Comedy Presents: SpitFire. We delighted the standing-room-only room with Pete's Pizza, Dinkel's cake (YUM), and of course, non-stop laughter. Thank you to everyone who came out to say goodbye to Kara Buller and Renee Gauthier. Girlfriends, you and your amazing energy will be missed. On the upside, we cannot WAIT to visit.

Be sure to watch her Rape Whistle video. It is a DREAM. Tomorrow night (Sunday, Sept. 3) we will be sending Joselyn off with a big bash at Bad Dog Tavern. It is going to be a blast, and very sad. But, we're looking forward to visiting Jossie in NYC just as soon as she's settled!

Thanks again and again to T's Bar for hosting us Wednesday, August 30. It was another terrific night, with new and old friends alike coming together for laughter and jello shots. There was some last minute chaos (broken down cars carrying the sound equipment, balloons that needed retrieving, and burgers that went cold), but we were underway just a few minutes late and ready to throw the party. And, special thanks to B-Fo for being the man with the jams, once again.

We're also happy to report that SpitFire was one of only four comedy entities in Chicago to be highlighted in the Fall Preview issue of Time Out this past week. Thanks to Steve Heisler, TOC comedy editor, for the shout-out and for coming out to the show Wednesday. We enjoyed meeting you!

SpitFire will next be at @mosphere, 5355 N. Clark, September 7 and 21, and then at Gunther Murphy's Tuesday, September 26, for a ChUC Presents: SpitFire/Goodbye Party for Renee Gauthier and Kara Buller. Two more girls are leaving us. Yep. *sniff*. We're so happy for them, though.
